Pontiac Valve Covers
If the valve cover of your Pontiac automobile is
defective already, it can no longer keep the parts that need to be
protected from various dilemmas it may encounter. The valve train
employs different valve arrangements that consisted of parts that
include camshaft, valve springs, retainers, rocker arms, shafts, and
lifters and pushrods (to engines that came with traditional mounting of
the camshaft in the cylinder block) to work in synchronization with
each other for the engine breathing requirements. These parts are
covered with valve cover to prevent foreign objects from intruding and
consequently interrupting with its operating conditions.
Another function that a valve cover performs is preventing the oil from
leaking out. The oil is being housed through several spark plug wells.
To prevent the oil from coming out, this is sealed with O-ring, a
rubberized gasket. However, over time, the seal may get damaged.
Usually, to prevent the oil from leaking, the valve cover is tightened
through its bolts. If the valve cover is defective already the oil may
leak directly out from the valve train and will eventually cause many
disruptions to the performance of the engine. And this is also one
major reason for a possible engine fire. For this reason, the valve
cover should always be checked for possible wreckages or damages. If
this is found defective it should be replaced immediately to avoid
further engine misfires.
Typically, automobiles that need valve cover replacements are the older
versions due from the long time of its utility. Most probably, the
valve covers of these vehicles are bent or distorted already from the
frequent tightening of the valve cover bolts. But, nonetheless, if the
valve cover of your Pontiac automobile will require replacement already
Pontiac valve covers are provided in the market. Pontiac valve covers
are offered for all Pontiac models.
