BMW Valve Cover
You may think it’s nothing but an ordinary cover to prevent the oil in your valve
from sputtering over other components but the essential important role that it
plays in the over-all performance of your car will surely be appreciated once
it is lost or misplaced. That is one of the ironies in life that man has to face.
Some things are only appreciated upon its absence. The same is true to your valve
cover. Of course your car can go on with its usual driving routine but for how
long?
Leak is one of the dangers that can happen if you have defective valve covers.
It can cause fire that can endanger your life if not properly handled. Thus it
is a must to ensure that your valve cover is properly positioned and is free from
any defects. Some auto owners does not care if they install it in place since
they think it’s nothing but a simple cover but mind you, that perception can do
more harm than good.
The quality of the valve cover must as well be considered in looking for replacement
in case repair cannot correct the damage. Valve covers are not universal or a
one size fits all components. The features of your valve are different from others
so you must know the distinct configurations of your car’s power train before
settling with any product in the market.
Materials used also vary. Plastic, aluminum and steel are the commonly used components
in making a valve cover. Plastic valve covers can be easily subjected to the extreme
heat generated by the engine. Its efficiency can be negatively affected if there
is insufficient amount of torque produced. Aluminum valve covers must be equipped
with baffles for the PCV system ports to facilitate smooth flow of oil to the
components in need of it.
