Originally, Land Rover was produced in 1947 by Rover, a British automobile company.
This vehicle was the first British civilian all-terrain utility vehicle and the
first auto manufactured after the Great Depression era. The declining economy
during the war caused Rover to stop its production of autos but it resumed in
1947 with the new Land Rover. It was warmly welcomed in the industry and with
its practical and tough features, it easily became popular especially in the rural
areas in the developing countries.
However, soon, Land Rover division detached from Rover Company and continued
as a separate marque of four wheel drives. It had been under numerous auto makers
including British Leyland, British Aerospace, BMW and lastly, Ford’s Premier Automotive
Group. Land Rover evolved as it passed through different owners. From its simple
design as a terrain vehicle, Land Rover became more refined in the later years.
In the 1970s Land Rover introduced to the global market Range Rover, which featured
a lighter but power V8 engine, coil suspension and finely proportioned body. In
the next decade, Land Rover vehicles became more advanced in terms of power and
performance. Its vehicle line-up expanded to include the imposing off-road vehicles
Land Rover Discovery and Defender.
Since 1989, Land Rover entered the luxury SUV segment with the Land Rover Discovery.
They came out in the market as three-door and five-door SUVs, equipped with a
2.5L 200 TDi engine. It boasted superior off-road abilities and this had made
it Land Rover’s most popular model. Latest models of the Discovery offered increased
seating capacity, bolder and sportier stance and more performance-oriented auto
parts. Another luxury SUV from Land Rover’s line of vehicles is the Range Rover.
This vehicle began in the 1970s featuring a steel ladder frame and aluminum body,
which makes it light and spacious. As a luxury vehicle, it was loaded of all the
