Infiniti Parts
To answer back its entry for a luxury line of vehicles from Acura (Honda) and
Lexus (Toyota), Nissan decided to form “Horizon” Task Force and started to study
luxury franchise market opportunity in 1985. Shortly after that, Q 45’s development
began and the name “Infiniti” was selected as Nissan new division.
Infiniti was launched in 1989 with 51 dealers to the United States, Canada and
Mexico. The carrier models were 1990 performance luxury sedan Q45 and the performance
luxury coupe M30 all equipped with top-rated
Infiniti parts. The Q 45 was powered by

278 hp (207 kW) 4.5 L VH45DE engine and can go from 0-60 in 6.7 seconds. But
due to bad advertising campaign, Q 45’s sales never took of.
After a year, the G 20 went on sale. It shared its platform with Nissan's Japanese/European-market
Primera with only one motor, the SR20DE 2.0 liter Inline 4-cylinder, also shared
with the Nissan Sentra/200SX SE-R and Nissan NX2000. Its engine is much smaller
than the Q 45 however; it became much popular among “tuners” for its flexibility,
reliability, fuel economy and high power-handling capabilities.
Several models soon followed during the 90s: the rear wheel drive luxury car
J30 in 1992, which replaced the M30; New Infiniti I30 luxury sedan in August of
1994 which is based on the Nissan Maxima sedan; and the first Infinity sport utility
vehicle, the QX4 which was introduced in 1997 that was based of the Nissan Pathfinder
platform. QX4’s major differences to the pathfinder were its more advanced four
wheel drive system and a more upscale interior.

Several Infiniti models were recognized in their own class. The Q45 named to
Road & Track magazine's “10 Best” list. The G20 was named as IntelliChoice
Inc. “Best Overall Import Car Value Over $13,000” and “Best Value in Compact Class
Over $16,000.” J.D. Power and Associates announces that Infiniti ranked “Best
Overall Carline in Initial Quality” and J30 ranked “Best Model in the $29,000
and over price class in Initial Quality.” Strategic Vision, Inc. announces that
the G35 won their "2003 Total Quality Awards™" in the near luxury car category.
G35 Coupe, QX56, and FX crossover named to Auto World Magazine’s “50 Best Picks”
for 2004, to name a few.
Truly, the Infiniti competes perfectly well by providing quality luxury cars
to the public. At a very young age, this division of Nissan Motors promises to
produce better cars in the future.
