Dodge Dakota Parts
Full-size trucks are loveable because of their cargo carrying capabilities, but
not because of their size. Compact pickups, on the other hand, are dependable
even on narrow roads, but you’ll just hate the amount of space they provide for
your cargos. In an aim to make both ends meet, DaimlerChrysler introduced the
Dodge Dakota. Combining the power and capability of full-size pickups and the
drive-ability of compact trucks, the Dodge Dakota can give you everything you’ll
ever expect from a pickup truck, and probably more, in just the perfect-size package.
The Dodge Dakota is a mid-size pickup truck introduced by DaimlerChrysler in
1987 and sold through the present model year. Upon introduction, the vehicle was
only available in a 2-door pickup truck configuration and equipped with either
a straight 4 or V6 engine matched with either a 5-speed manual or 3-speed automatic
transmission. In 1989, a rare convertible version of the truck was introduced,
featuring a fixed roll bar and a complicated manual top.

The Dodge Dakota was redesigned for 1997 and for its second generation, it inherited
the semi-truck look of the larger Dodge Ram truck. This generation of the truck
also saw the coming of its first V8 engine and later, the truck’s first 4-door
model called the “Quad Cab”. In 2005, the vehicle was given another redesign,
and this time it was fitted on the same platform used by the new Dodge Durango
SUV.
Today, the intermediate pickup truck is only available in 4-door body styles,
either in the Club Cab or Quad Cab configurations. In either configuration, the
truck comes equipped with a 210 hp 3.7-liter V6 engine that is matched with a
6-speed manual transmission for the base ST and mid-level SLT trims, and with
a 4-speed automatic transmission unit for the top Laramie trim. Two choices of
4.7-liter V8 engine that outputs 230 hp and 260 hp are also available on all trim
levels.
Through the years, the Dodge Dakota has combined the best of the full-size and
the compact pickup truck. Equipped with capable and innovative Dodge Dakota parts,
it has also provided power, space and capability all wrapped-up in a single, perfect-size
package.
