Dodge Distributor
Aside from the fuel and air mixture, electricity is one of the “musts” needed
for the vehicle to keep going. The ignition system is the one in charge of the
transfer of the electrical current from the initial source to the mechanisms and
systems in need of it to perform their respective tasks.
The distributor is part of your vehicle’s ignition system. Expected to help the
distributor in the transportation of the spark from the main terminals to other
terminals and spark plug wires is the rotor. The distributor cap is the component
used to produce rotating movements in the funnel to ignite the terminal connected
to the spark plug wires. Easier rotation of the spark timing can be achieved by
using centrifugal advance units for more engine rpm. The timing process can as
well be speed up through a vacuum advance unit.

Distributors are only utilized for electronic ignition system. The other type
is the distributorless system which as the name implies, does not need a distributor.
Unlike the other, distributorless system is equipped with only three components
which include the distributorless ignition coil, distributor less ignition crankshaft
angle sensor and distributorless ignition module. Electronic Ignition system on
the other hand is equipped with a distributor, distributor cap, rotor, pickup
coil and ignition module.
Constant cleaning and check up of the distributor system must be done to know
if the components need repair or replacement. You can go to your trusted auto
mechanic in case there is a need for repair for much better results or you can
also do it yourself if you know the proper know-how’s. In case repair cannot solve
the problem, replacement with a new component is the next best thing that you
can do. Various brands and names like Dodge distributor are out in the net and
in your nearest local store.
