Catalytic Converters
Air pollution continues to escalate as time passes by. The main contributors?
Automotive vehicles!
Catalytic converters are essential part of the vehicle. Without it, your license to drive may be confiscated
or cancelled

and your car towed and unreleased for some time. Car manufacturers have equipped
their products with nature-friendly parts such as the catalytic converters.
Several clean air initiatives have been implemented over the years. Parameters
have been set to reduce the harmful effects of risky exhaust gasses emitted by
cars. Research says that the larger the number of cars a state has, the more dangerous
it is for the inhabitants and the condition of the environment. The catalytic
converters function to transform the unburned harmful gasses from the car’s engine
into more beneficial and acceptable by products thereby reducing the nasty effect
the pollution-causing chemicals would bring to effect.
One has to carefully check that the catalytic converters of his vehicle function
well to help minimize the harmful effects to nature. To help clean the exhaust
gases of the vehicle, the catalytic converters are installed in the emission system
to clean up the harmful elements of hydrocarbon, carbon monoxide, and nitrogen
oxide. They are located in the exhaust line in between the exhaust manifold and
the muffler and works in three stages. The first stage is called the reduction
catalyst. It uses platinum and rhodium to help reduce the emissions. The second

stage is the oxidization catalyst which reduces the unburned hydrocarbons and
carbon monoxide by burning them over a platinum and palladium catalyst. The last
stage then is the control system. It monitors the exhaust stream and uses the
information to track the fuel injection system.
They may be small, yet the job they do produces great effects especially in the
minimization of damages to the ecological condition. That is why when the need
to replace your catalytic converters arrives; the market offers them in varied
makes, sizes, and designs which will be apt for your vehicles. Two structures
of the converters come at hand. They are the honeycomb, the most commonly used
type these days, and the ceramic beads catalytic converters. So as more and more
people get enticed with the overwhelming feeling of luxury, comfort, convenience,
fame, and fun of owning a vehicle; then the need to be responsible to nature and
the people around must be seriously borne in mind too.
