Dodge Alternator

Dodge vehicles are continuously innovated to make them more comfortable, safer, and high performance vehicles to ride in. The air conditioning system, car stereo system, cooling fan, windshield wipers, defogger, and all lighting components are just a few parts and features that a Dodge vehicle has to give its rider a truly relaxing riding experience. But how do these operate? Where do they get their source of electricity since electricity is needed in order for them to operate? You may think that it is from the battery, this is true in some way. But the much needed electrical energy by these components actually comes from the Dodge alternator.

Dodge Alternator

The Dodge alternator is a vital component of the Dodge vehicle’s electrical system because its main function is to convert mechanical energy to electrical energy. It produces electricity for many devices like the air conditioning system and car stereo system. Although the car’s battery supplies some of the electricity needed by your vehicle, it is the alternator that supplies a steady stream of power in order for most electrical mechanisms to fully operate. The type of electricity that an alternator creates is an alternating current rather than direct current, on which its name is derived. It is a device, concealing a pulley, wheels, brushes, and wires, which hooks to the crankshaft and runs to the battery. When the gasoline powers the engine to turn the crankshaft, which in turn connects to the alternator, the Dodge alternator converts this motion into current whenever the car is running.

Since the alternator is used to charge the battery and to enable the electrical devices in your car to operate, it should always be in good working condition. But basically it is hard to tell when your alternator has a problem because when it dies or malfunction, your car will still continue to run and the electrical mechanisms as well. This is because the battery still has a stored power to be consumed, but once this power is all sapped, that when bigger problem comes in. So you must check your alternator regularly and if needed, have replacement Dodge alternator in order to prevent more car problems in the future.
