Volvo AC Compressor
When it comes to safety, Volvo is on top of the rank. But Volvo didn’t only focus
on safety; it is also dedicated in giving the buying public vehicles with comfortable
and luxurious interior. The air conditioning system in Volvo vehicles is one of
the systems that contribute to your comfortable ride. It is responsible for providing
the car’s interior a cold atmosphere especially during summer when the outside
temperature is hot.
The most common components that make up a vehicle’s air conditioning system are
ac compressor, ac condenser, evaporator, orifice tube, thermal expansion valve,
receiver-drier and accumulator. If your automobile already possess an orifice
tube, then thermal expansion valve isn’t necessary because they have the same
purpose. Likewise, you can have a receiver-drier or an accumulator, but you can’t
have both.

The AC compressor in your Volvo’s air conditioning system is considered as the
heart of the system. Its job is to compress and transfer the refrigerant gas so
it can remove heat from the vehicle’s interior. Volvo AC compressor is a belt
driven pump that’s attached to the engine. The said belt is often dubbed as AC
compressor pulley and is connected or disconnected to the Volvo AC compressor
through an electromagnetic clutch named AC compressor clutch. The air conditioning
system is usually divided into two sections the discharge and suction side otherwise
known as the high pressure side and low pressure side.
Basically, Volvo AC compressor is a pump and it features an intake and a discharge
side. The Volvo compressor’s intake or suction side takes in refrigerant gas from
the evaporator’s outlet. There are cases when this process is done through the
accumulator. After the refrigerant is drawn into the suction side, it is then
compressed and transferred to the condenser. The circulation of the refrigerant
also has a benefit – it transports refrigerant oil throughout the system to give
lubrication to the major components of the system. The designs of AC compressors,
including Volvo AC compressor may vary from one manufacturer to the next, depending
on the internal designs and components of the AC system.
