The A/C compressor is found at the heart of the system and is fastened to the engine with a belt. It has intake (or the suction side), and discharge sides. The suction side draws in the refrigerant gas, compresses it and sends it to the A/C condenser. As it enters through the top of the condenser, the hot compressed gases will simultaneously start to cool off. The gases will eventually exit and will be transformed into a high pressure liquid. After the task is done, cold air will be released so that the temperature of the vehicle’s interior will be comfortable for the occupants

This is a cyclical process so that constant use of the components of the system might lead wear out the part itself.
